FUEL TANK MODULE WIRING HARNESS ADAPTER FOR '94-'95 TO '96-'97 FUEL SENDING UNIT
As you already know, your '94-'95 Dodge Turbo Diesel's fuel tank sending unit is no longer available. You can make the '96-'97 sending unit (#P74699R or Mopar 4798671) work if you use this wiring adapter.
The harness adapter has to be modified.
Our instructions will show you how the adapter is modified.
Gee, at this low price you can't go wrong.
ADAPTER HISTORYDodge uses this bulky six-pin adapter for gasoline and diesel applications. For gasoline, other pin locations are power to the fuel pump.
WIRING
For the diesel, only two wires/two pins are used to give the fuel level signal. To wire-in the new connector, you butt-spice connect one of the wires to the truck's dark blue wire of the existing connector; one wire to the truck's black/white trace wire from the existing connector. (Aren't the fancy Swenco wiring connectors cool?) Polarity of the two wires does not matter.
CONNECTOR HOOK-UP
Obviously, you're using this connector with the '96-'97 Fuel Tank Sending Unit, Carter part number P74699R. Correct?
The following are the instructions on how to modify the plug on the Carter sending unit.
1. Using a hot knife or a cut-off tool, remove the two raised ribs on the outside of the connector. Trim flush.
2. Test fit/plug in your adapter. Again, polarity of the two black connector wires does not matter. If you choose, verify continuity with a volt meter. Finish the installation.Thank you for your purchase.
P.S. Geez...all this fancy paperwork for a $10.00 part. Then again, that's what you've come to expect from Geno's Garage.
